Managing a Project's Human Resources Assignment

Managing a Project's Human Resources - Assignment Example With this new organizational emphasis on innovation, however, came a corresponding emphasis on stringent work elements (Lashinksky 2012). As such Apple is regarded as a highly stratified organization, with great degrees of privacy. In addition, there is tremendous emphasis within the organization on production and commitment to excellence with employees expected to adhere to these organizational elements or risk termination (Lashinksky 2012). Although Job’s has since left the organization, in terms of structure Tim Cook has assumed the chief executive officer position. Cook reports to a board of directors the head of which is Arthur Levinson. Cook then oversees a diverse array of departments that then oversee subordinate departments (Organizational Chart Apple, 2012). As this is a large scale organizational project the project manager will be CEO Tim Cook who will oversee Industrial Design head Jonathan Ive, Software Engineering design head Craig Federighi, and Hardware Engine ering design head Bob Mansfield (Organizational Chart Apple, 2012). These individuals will in turn oversee sub-teams of designers under them. The stakeholders are both inter-organizational interested parties, as well as stockholders. 2. There are a variety of methods of project control and coordination. Lock (2007) articulates a number of overarching notions in regards to coordination and control mechanisms, including compiling a work breakdown schedule, planning a timescale, and managing changes and managing costs. To an extent these coordination mechanisms function as large-scale signposts in the project design. In these regards, the project underwent a two-year timescale. During this period the work breakdown schedule was segmented such that overall organizational goals were on a need to know basis, with Tim Cook and Project Management heads being the only individuals informed of the true scope of the project. Project management teams within these spectrums of division undertook specific tasks. Project costs were established from a top-down structure and reassessed accordingly. In terms of managing change, an agile management approach was implemented. Agile management, also referred to as extreme project management, has been noted to be useful new method for technology companies implementing software or hardware development (Maex 2011). Agile management is an approach to design that implements dynamic iteration and change. Figure 1 below demonstrates the iteration process implemented in the project design. Fig. 1 Project Feedback Loops In these regards, upon task completion as distinguished by the previously established timescale, coordinating project elements would be combined and these elements would then undergo project iteration. Apple, Inc. is unique in its limited emphasis on customer feedback, as such iteration was conducted internally, the results of which were then reincorporated into further project design and management. In this context of unders tanding, the project was coordinated and managed in the most efficient way possible. Still, ultimate success will be determined based on return to stockholder equity, as such the market will determine if differing project management should have been undertaken. 3. There are a variety of leadership qualities that a Project Manager must possess. Kouzes (1997) indicates that one of the overarching elements is that the individual inspire a shared vision. In the context of Apple, Inc. product design has

Who are you - Essay Example He will point out that soul is a non material substance that was hardly be transplanted with the help of a part of brain as the latter does not contain it in the strict meaning of this verb (Elkaisy-Friemuth and Dillon 2). One of the most important assumptions that are made by this kind of thinking is that if a body does, the soul is released free and there is no way to return it. It is understandable that Plato is not able to present any factual evidence to support his claims. That is why it would be logical to treat his position from the point of view of speculation as well as personal interpretation of the facts as Plato primarily refers to different consideration and logical models in order to convince the audience. The second friend who will express his opinion about the situation in question is Aristotle. His main argument will be focused on the idea that soul is closely connected to the body. Therefore, it is possible to influence the former with the help of the latter (Johansen 119). The most important assumption in this case is that if one locates the part of the body where the soul is, it is possible to remove it and place into a different body. Speaking of the factual evidence, Aristotle might suggest that unhealthy body is not able to produce a sound soul. While this evidence is factual, it may be rather difficult to verify as a lot of different abstract notions are taken into consideration. That is why, one would make no mistake while pointing out that the claims that are presented by Aristotle are also may be regarded as speculations. It is quite understandable that it is safe to accept the premises which are expressed by Plato regarding the impossibility of transplanting a soul with the help of a brain as the argument that he makes features sound logic. Of course, some might question several aspects of it such as What if the soul decided to choose a different

If you were given one million dollars to spend how would you spend it Essay

If you were given one million dollars to spend how would you spend it you cannot use it for yourself, familymembers or friends - Essay Example What if I have to spend it nonetheless? What would I do and where would I spend it? The question is abrupt and took me by surprise. It was a while before my polished grey cells started to work again. I thought, pondered, mused and laughed. I had numerous thoughts and each thought was powered by another, more distinct idea. Clearly imaginative, my thinking was now starting to bog my rationality. It was time I took a final decision and the decision had to be a wise one. The moment I gave it a thought, my mind stopped churning ideas. A simple decision to spend it on others had simplified the entire procedure and allowed me to slip out of my utopia. The next thought was the execution of my plan. In order to simplify the scenario, the million dollars were to be spent for charitable use. With that in mind, I narrowed my thoughts to select the best charitable option. Even as I pondered, I had a recollection which was nothing but a reflection of my past. It involved a close friend who had spent a majority of his life running in and out of rehabilitation centers. His drug abuse had spilled water on a promising career and his life had been reduced to a human waste. Taking cue from the above example, I set out to locate a suitable property dealer and bought an acre of wasteland. The hundred thousand dollar bill was substantial to transfer the property to my name. The next step involved hiring an expert builder who transformed the wasteland into a fully functional rehab center. I then enrolled the necessary staff and took the required permission to kick start the rehab center. A month later, the rehab had treated over a hundred patients for free, provided employment to fifteen nurses and five doctors besides a dozen maintenance employees. As I had no right over the money, the rehab was transferred under the care of a local non governmental organization. Well, if you thought that I spend the entire amount on the purchase of land, the

Case Study Example To the larger investors and stakeholders, the management should have informed them earlier with plans and strategies for ensuring that they (investor) would not lose their investments. The larger stakeholders control the public image and therefore should be given much consideration (Miller, 2005). In management, the answers are not different. If the management learned of the impending wine shortage six months, it would give them ample time to select the higher, middle and lower investors. Upon identification, the management would prepare time and strategies for convincing the investors that everything would be okay (Miller, 2005). Investors are afraid of shocks that, with carefully analyzed strategies, they can be convinced that absorbing the shocks is the management’s responsibility that they must ensure to protect their investments. Making the announcement of a potential loss of profits and investments, especially to investors and stakeholders, is always a headache to the management. The best way of action and making of such an announcement is communicating and talking to different groups privately before letting the information out to the public. The stakeholders of the company must know the truth. However, the management must ensure they have a careful strategy of acting to such an impending shortage to ensure that the stakeholders continue investing and supporting the company. To the outside stakeholders, the message should be a different one; it should be competition as usual. Going into detail for outside stakeholders would lead to also informing the competitors of the company’s struggles and strategies that the management cannot afford (Miller, 2005). I think Mondavi Winery’s handling of the new analyst was very poor. The management did not offer all the necessary information to the analyst for his analysis. If he had all the needed information, Solomon smith would not have upgraded the company to a ‘buy’. Mr.

How Capitalism Works in Different Scenarios Coursework

How Capitalism Works in Different Scenarios - Coursework Example According to Hagopian capitalism is a social organization which is currently experienced in every country. In this type of organization, means that are used for production are owned by a minority group in society (capitalistic class). The rest of the population has to sell their labor in exchange for salary/wage (working class). Unlike the communist form of organization where a society has no classes, in capitalism class division plays a major role. Capitalism is best explained by Karl Marx who says a capitalistic society has two main classes; those who have (own the means of production) and those who have not. There may be the existence of other classes in society but the two are conceived as the major ones. According to Marx those who have are fond of exploiting those who do not have hence conflict will always exist between the two classes. This is what forms a capitalistic society and that is how it operates.Capitalism is the mode of production that is employed in our contemporary societies. In many societies today you will find the existence of the two main classes. Exploitation comes about when the capitalistic class uses the working class to their benefit. This is because as much as the working class is the one working on the ground the overall profits realized go to the capitalistic class. Costs paid by capitalists in the production process such as salaries are way too low as compared to the profits realized. These profits are then invested in order to generate more profits, leading to further wealth accumulation. When the working class gets tired they will result in a revolution and finally, the society will go into a state of communism. At this stage, no one owns anything and Marx asserts that the process will repeat itself.Blaut (127) explains the history of capitalism by first letting the people know the transitional debate history. Capitalism origins can be best explained through the commercialization model. ration to show how capitalism works is in factory scenarios, where a lot of people are involved in the production process but the profits are reaped by one person.
